The raw majority definitely counts. The reson S.1932 failed was because it was an extremely republican bill -- it went through without a single democrat vote. A small fraction of republican was able to black mail the visa numbers stuff because of republican can not afford to lose any single republican vote. They needed all of them to get it trhough. In another words, those anti-immigration guys did not build a coalition against legal immigration, as they still can not today, they simply black mailed it.
The situation for PACE act is definitely different. PACE enjoys broad support from both side. It will be very difficult for any of those anti-immigration guy to play the same kind of trick again. It simply won't work.
Your belief in raw majority votes in the conference is touching. ;-) But all it takes is one person -- one Sensenbrenner, or equivalent to build a coalition within the conference, and one house leader to pick and choose the members of the conference.
To reiterate -- 20% of the house is in the House (Anti) Immigration Caucus. The house bill was voted in by a clear majority. Chew on that.

Additionally, can your attorneys makes copies of RFE response sent and attach it to the MTR maybe? I do not if that is possible or allowed or will make any difference.
I just learned that from you that there is a 33 day deadline on answering RFEs. What if the mail got lost in transit? How will the applicant/attorneys really know (unless of course you have done the online case status registration).

You got an EAD for your kid? What is the minimum age for a kid to be eligible for an EAD?
The SSN card will contain a restriction saying "authorized for work only" which would mean the kid should have reached the min age for eligibility to work.

I have an appointment tomorrow and only have a letter from the doctor.

We did not have to prove the relationship. It was a hospital letter stating the person had passed away.
Again, all i can tell you is go with what you have and try. there are no specific rules or standard procedure. Each IO officer may look at it in different ways.
When you go, take your I-485 receipt notice, 2 passport size photos in case they ask you to fill a new application.

sp99, who is your internet service provider? For about 8 channels, you are paying ~$50. Do they also have any regular US local channels included in this package? The reason I am asking this question is that they charge about $50 for a few indian channels + other regular HD channels, if you get the dish from them. I understand that the iptv is for folks like me that can not install dish in the building. I am just trying to compare the price. Also, could you tell us if you had to sign a contract too?

I ordered Hindi Superpack, i was interested in Elite pack but it has $6 charge which becomes $40 for 4 channnels but add 4.99 and u get 8 channels...i was worried about buffering and quality of the programming but it is awesome..i watch it on my 50inch plasma..it is great..let me know if u have any more questions...

50,000 visas were recaptured for Schedule A occupations - nurses and physical therapists. That is why both India and Philippines got more numbers in FY 2006.
The # for 2006 excludes schedule A recapture for nurses etc. Here is the breakdown

when a person is on H1B and out of project and no paystubs, Will there be any issue with 485 processing.
Any H employer is supposed to pay the minimum wage to the employee , so paystub seems natural in this process. But if you are genuine and just missed the paystubs for some reason you can send some alternatives :
a) Timesheet signed.
b) benefits confirmation ,
c) email correspondence to indirectly prove that you were working in H1 status and getting paid

Hello All
Similar experience at Mumbai Consulate. Being a full time employee, and after showing all paystubs, employment letter , VO was not satisfied. 1/2 of the time , he was under impression that I was still working for a company, whose visa was stamped in 2008. :)
Another reason of frustration is they did not check all the documents I sent , which were mentioned in the green slip. Inspite of sending Research Document, I had got the reply saying that I did not send the Past, Current and Future Research Statement. So I resubmitted all the documents again on Dec 23rd,2010 . also added I am not working on any research topic presently or in near future . After that I did not hear back from consulate. So that means my case has been under processing?
Did anyone get the receipt of documents submission in response to Green Slip?
Please let me know

USCIS offices process application in order they receive them physically (not in RD sequence). They don't process based on PD's. For adjudication ty need physical file to review documents, medicals, photocopies, etc. Sorting physical files of such a large volume in any other order would be a tedious task. Obviously they don't index files, and keep that info on the system, which would makei it easy to locate a file. Therefore, unless they do that, even if they know A# of cases due for approval, process is unlikely to work.

If you do not inform USCIS there is considerable risk you will be taking if your I-140 gets revoked and subsequent RFE do not get into your hands in time.
You will have to write a simple letter stating your intent to change employer and support it with your offer letter and pending I-485 receipt. Usually, the offer letters from employers don't go into details of job duties in such cases you'll get a RFE to obtain a letter from your current employer stating your job duties. You can respond to that RFE and be rest assured that it will go into USCIS system and forget worrying about I-140 revocation for rest of your life or for that matter changing employers.
If you think your lawyer can play foul with your green card prospects. This is the right time to submit AC21 with a new G-28 so the new lawyer will get all future correspondence from USCIS otherwise you'll have to go through whole lot of trouble to get a copy of the RFE and respond to it on time.

I have travelled on an about to expire passport. It US immigration officer was nice and asked to promise him that I would renew my passport as soon as I got home.
