It's time to look into ALL OS's, mobile and stationary, to see how much data is collected. Not just apple. Let's see how wide spread this really is. I don't use a iPhone, but do own a EVO. At least under android, your told what app has access to before downloading. Since I'm using an iPad, 1st gen, am presuming it's the same as the iPhone for getting apps, doesn't state what a program has access to. Would be a nice feature.

To LOLwinner. Your a law student? If that is true, I hope you never become a lawyer, our world need less people like you in our profession.

Except that the question "male to male sex" is discriminatory. It doesn't ask you "received anal sex", it asks you about your sexual orientation. Plain and simple, discriminatory and non-scientific because male-to-female sex has the exact same risks.
Has the exact same risks on an individual basis. But statistically, gay males have a higher-than-average ratio of HIV. Not sure about other STDs, but I would guess it's the same as HIV. Not passing judgment here, just pointing out that as a whole, gay males have a higher rate of HIV.
Disclaimer (or flame suit): I don't care about gay marriage one way or the other. In fact, I wish the government would stay out of ALL marriage, gay or straight. Apart from identifying domestic partnerships for tax purposes (something any two adults should be able to enter into), the government has no business establishing marriage definitions. Your church may vary, and you may choose to believe whatever you wish, but our tax dollars should be used more effectively, than to ban two gay dudes from getting married. Stay out of my business, and I will stay out of yours. Promise.
Rant over! :)

Regarding Health Care:
Bill Maher New Rule: Not Everything in America Has to Make a Profit (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/bill-maher/new-rule-not-everything-i_b_244050.html) 23July09
Just how exaggerated is the following?:
Wow. That article pretty much sums up the way I see it all. Great read.
My problem with it isn't that businesses and people are in it for a profit (well, in certain areas). Hey, you got to make something. It's that the only thing that matters is the highest profit possible, at all costs.
If a company has made a profit of $15,000,000, but they were wanting $16,000,000 based on nothing more than their accountant's predictions, they won't settle for that $15m. They will lay off people, make others work longer, and cut salaries and benefits to achieve their "goal". It's no longer about making money...it's about making excessive money for the upper management and pleasing shareholders.
You see it in the stock market all the time. A company announces that it's profits will fall short of some astronomical assumed figure, and shareholders start selling off the stock because large profits are worse than huge profits.
While this isn't in the private market, and I'm sure someone (we know who) will find a way to say this is OK, it reminds me of a recent story I read. I think it was Texas Tech or something required all of their faculty to take a pay freeze, yet gave the football coach a half-million dollar a year raise. Not $50k, not $100k...$500k a year added to his already $1.5m a year salary. All while telling teachers there was not enough money to do anything for them. And it wasn't a contracted raise, if I recall, it was a "promise". The very fact that the coach would take that says enough to me. That's pretty sick.

Among other things we basically placed them under an oil embargo their need for natural resources and they're inability to attain them from us in a peaceful manner encouraged them to invade.
Also by your logic we are criminally involved in Iraq at the moment. Seeing as they were not aggressors against us, and we had no reason to invade.
The oil embargo was caused by the invasion of Japan to Indochina.
And yes, if the US invaded Iraq without any reason it would be a crime. This would be a whole new debate about if there were enough reasons to justify the Iraq war.

I don't get why Americans like bigger cars.
So we could make you feel better about yourselves driving small cars.
More likely: In Europe and Asia, the cities were built before cars, so they have narrower streets. In the US, some big cities were built before cars, but most were built for wagon/car/whatever traffic and since there was so much empty space, they made more room for it.
I know, there is empty space in other countries. Got that. I also know that some people think we should live like sardines, but not having to worry about your neighbor's rowhouse catching on fire and burning yours down, or their filthy habits getting you sick is nice. It's also nice to not hear your neighbor flushing the toilet and/or what show they're watching on TV.
Yes, I understand if you live in a 350 year old building made out of 24" thick plaster/cement/adobe walls you won't hear your neighbor. OTOH, you probably don't have to worry about the ground shaking under you.. well, you might have to worry about the volcano nearby exploding into your house or something but.. that's different right?
Anyway, long story short, small cars fit small streets better.
In the US, small cars aren't a necessity, and since they're cheaper to make than big cars, they tend to be sold for those who want a new car but can't afford a bigger car. Aside from the 50s/50s/70s, I don't think size was really seen as a luxury thing - right now this country is choke full of people ashamed to be considered American that would love to have a tiny, really expensive European car to show how not stereotypical fat american they are XD

Is this possible?
I have a Pink Floyd DVD of a concert. Is it possible to rip the music from the DVD and put it on a blank CD for listening to the soundtrack?
Thanks.:)

The keynote was terrible.
It's called "MacWorld" yet there was nothing in there about the mac. Just this little toy that dosn't really interest me that much called the "iPhone" and the "Apple TV".
I completely agree. I'm really wanting them to put up the video stream of the keynote so I can see if MacRumors had it right when they put this on the live coverage feed:
9:18 am we're only talking about the mac today
If Steve really said that, it's a flat out LIE. Nothing was about the Mac, except for devices that can interact with them. When I saw that, I just knew leopard and speed bumped Macs were just moments away.

I thought Duc would have had the front end washing out issue solved by now...

Could I get a link to this picture please?
The front end issues will likely continue for most of the season, it seems to be a trait with the bike, not a setup problem.

yawn. how many more stories about this stupid "location tracking".
Until people like this guy actually get the point that Apple isn't tracking anyone.
Why does it take a media storm for Apple to open up on an issue ? It would be so much better if they more forthcoming and frank befoe an issue snowballs.

I too am forced to use Lotus Notes at work. Maybe it hasn't been "implemented properly" in my office, but it is a horrible, awful thing. Even common commands are hidden deep inside nondescript menus and any attempt at customizing anything ends with frustration. I would hope that this bloated piece of software crap stays far, far away from the Mac platform forever.

Fancy having a Keynote dedicated to a gadget that won't be seen until 2008 :( Oh sure the U.S. will get it in June but the rest of the world (and there is one outside folks) won't get a chance to see it until later this year or next. I just don't see the point.
We have been keenly waiting on the details of Leopard only to be kept in the dark. Perhaps Apple Inc has gone the Adobe way. If this is a sign of things to come (and some of us remember the downfall during the Newton) then Apple Inc might want to start learning how to write music instead.

On a scale from 1-5,
1 being completely pleased and the expo could not have been better
or
5 being absolutely livid and disappointed in either what was presented or the lack of anything new
How did you feel at the end of the Sept 9 macworld? Were you completely happy with what was presented or were you ready to get on stage and give your own "one more thing."
What was it lacking?

Does anyone else think this is a desperate attempt by Adobe to stay in the tablet game? ...
mmmm... no, only you.
Why is it that every Adobe story on MR prompts the inevitable "Look how desperate Adobe is..." comment?
Why would you NOT be happy they're taking the iPad seriously, and building a useful* app for it?
